Adidas announces the closure of the Department of Wearable Sports Technology Development 2018
The American section of the German company Adidas announced the closure of the development of wearable sports technologies without specifying the reasons, stressing that the workers will be transferred to work in other sections within the company.
The former statement said the company is no longer interested in the development of wearable sports technologies and will focus on Runtastic and its e-shopping application, while collaborating with other companies such as Fitbit to develop new sports sensors, but will not be responsible for development alone anymore.
The company's plans are not yet known. However, the move of the smart wearable department to work in other departments means that all departments will understand deeply how these techniques work, and will therefore integrate their expertise in the sports field taking into consideration the technical aspects.
