You've seen navigation enhanced by reality, but the arrival of original R frames makes it more visible and easier. Case in point: Bleibar. Its just started, the AR App City for iOS uses the ARKit to clearly define where you have to walk and highlights points close to interest based on what you can actually see. Most importantly, it promises to be more accurate than the GAS alone. The optical application uses inertial optics (that is, an interpreted motion seen through the camera) to minimize distance errors and prevent you from turning to a side street by mistake.
The app is now available in the public beta. There's just one fishing, aside from the lack of an Android-based arkur equivalent: you'll need to live in the right city to get the full experience. Basic navigation works in any city covered by Apple Maps, but visual sites are only available in Central London, Mountain View and San Francisco. Now, this will not help much if you are lost on the streets of New York or Mumbai.
In the early days, though, this shows at least the potential of navigation r. As long as you are comfortable holding your phone in front of your face (you are going to look like a tourist each time you use this), you are getting the kind of accuracy and contextual information that a map can not offer on its own. It's not exactly the same as having a local guide for you around, but it's close enough that you might feel the city more quickly than you did before.
