The weak demand for the Evon 8 has forced retailers to cut prices, offer online deals and cuts less than a month after Apple's release of the smartphone, according to reports in China.
Some blame the lack of interest in the iPhone 8 on the iPhone X, which Apple revealed in September along with the iPhone 8 and Avon 8 plus. Pre-orders for a more premium device began last week, with Apple claiming a demand for a $ 999 smartphone is "off the charts".

The Sunning electronic appliance platform offers discounts between 900 yuan ($ 135) and 1100 yuan ($ 165), while authorized Apple retail JD.com offers discounts ranging from 500 yuan ($ 75) and 800 yuan ($ 120).

Previous reports indicate that the iPhone 8 is the first Apple smart phone ever to be prohibitive by its predecessor. John Vinh, an analyst with broker Kibank Capital Markets, said earlier this month that gradual upgrades led to a lack of interest in the iPhone 8.
"There is a significant part of the customers buying [Evon 7] instead of the new Evon 8, because there are no significant improvements in the new phone," Vinh said in a note to the customer.
"Feedback from the stores indicates that customers are waiting to buy an iPhone X or to compare iPhone X before buying the iPhone 8. While companies continue to offer promotional offers for the new iPhone 8, they were much more modest compared to the iPhone's last year's launch."

By contrast, iPhone X received a lot of customer attention before its official release on November 3, although some analysts pointed out the lack of any significant differences from its predecessors or competitors.
