If you have a Chromebook, you may not have the excuse to ignore your friends' texts. The Android 8.1 operating system (which is still in Developer Preview) includes the new SMS Sizing Link feature that may allow you to send and receive text messages on your computer.
The feature is now displayed as a APK file in Developer Preview. You may be able to launch and setup using an activity browser, and you may also need to enable it on a Chromebok device by typing "Chrome: // FlagS" in the address bar and running "Enable MultiDevice Features".

The word spoken here is "may". This new feature was first spotted on the developer preview of Android 8.1 by Ars Technica and Chrome Unboxed, none of them can get it to work.
It seems that at the moment, the buttons are the placeholder for the feature that comes in the full version. However, the reference to such an update is exciting.
